Finally fixed my squeaky bedroom door with a bar of soap from the Dollar General on Coulter
That door has been waking up my kid at 6am for three weeks and I was about to rip it off the hinges. Tried WD-40 first and it worked for like two days, then the squeak came back worse. My neighbor Ruby told me to just rub a dry bar of soap on the hinge pin and I thought she was messing with me, but it has been dead silent for nine days now. Anyone else got cheap tricks like this that actually hold up, or should I just buy new hinges already?

Did you wipe the hinge clean first, or just rub soap right over the old WD-40?
