Fixed my 1978 AC unit for $47 instead of $2,500
My old Rheem unit finally died last Thursday and the HVAC guy quoted me $2,500 for a new one. Figured I'd open it up myself and found the capacitor was just bulging, ordered one off Amazon for $47 and it's been running ice cold for 3 days now. Has anyone else saved this kind of money by just looking at the simple parts first?

Tbh the real issue is these companies don't even feel bad about it. They just see it as a business move and move on.
