Hit 50 houses this year and I'm still using the same beat up tape measure from 2007

Must have stretched it across a thousand studs by now and the first foot is pretty worn down. Anybody else got a tool they just can't bring themselves to replace?

...wait you've had that tape measure since 2007? That's older than some of the apprentices on my crew. @paulw53 you gotta respect the dedication but man, those numbers must be practically invisible by now.

Ever try hitting that first foot with a little clear nail polish to seal the edge? Saved my favorite tape from the landfill twice now. @lily57 is right though, those numbers fade fast once the plastic coating starts peeling.
