I threw $80 down the drain on that 'miracle' pipe leak repair tape

I saw this Flex Seal tape at Ace Hardware in Amarillo, the one they claim fixes active leaks instantly. My kitchen sink pipe had a slow drip, so I spent $18 on a roll, cleaned the pipe, and wrapped it tight like the video showed. Three days later I woke up to a puddle all over my floor because the tape peeled off. Ended up calling a plumber who charged me $62 to replace a simple rubber coupling, which took him 15 minutes. Anyone else fell for those fancy tapes when a $3 part would've done the job?

My cousin swore by that Flex Seal stuff for a leaky hose bib. Wrapped it up real pretty like a christmas present and it lasted maybe 4 hours before water was squirting out the side again. He ended up spending like 40 bucks on three different rolls before he finally gave in and replaced the damn thing for 8 dollars at Home Depot. That whole tape aisle is just a trap for people who hate calling a plumber but love wasting time. I swear those commercials should come with a warning label that says "buys you exactly 3 days of false hope.

Honestly @kim.nina, reminds me of my uncle who tried to fix his faucet with duct tape and called it a permanent solution.
