Just spent $80 on a stud finder that actually works and it's a game changer
I was trying to hang a heavy shelf in my living room and hit a pipe behind the drywall. My old magnetic finder was useless. I went to the hardware store on Georgia Street and bought a Franklin Sensors ProSensor 710 for about eighty bucks. It found every stud, even with the thick texture we have here in Amarillo. What tools have you guys bought that were actually worth the money?

Always thought those fancy electronic finders were a total scam, just marketing to people who couldn't use a basic magnet. Then I had a wall like valc91 mentioned, with that heavy knockdown texture, and my old method failed hard. Bought a similar model after a friend swore by it and it completely changed my mind. The beeping and the lights actually line up with the wood, it's wild. That shelf is finally up and my wall isn't Swiss cheese anymore.

Right? It's crazy how much time you waste with the wrong tool. Makes you wonder what other basic jobs we're all doing the hard way.

That thick texture in Amarillo sounds like a real pain, so that stud finder must be a beast.
