Lost $400 on a "sealed" roof repair kit for the Amarillo heat
Bought one of those big roll-on roof patch buckets last month from a big box store cause the sales guy swore it would handle our west Texas sun. Went over the flashing and a few cracks near the AC unit, looked great for two days. Third day hit 103 degrees and the stuff literally bubbled up and slid off like warm syrup, had to scrape it all off with a putty knife in the evening. Anyone else had luck with a specific coating that actually stays put on a flat commercial roof around here, or am I better off just paying a crew to torch down new felt?
Man I feel your pain lol. Same thing happened to me but with a different brand I got off Amazon, it was like painting with honey and then the sun just ate it alive. I ended up calling a buddy who does commercial roofing and he said half those roll-on kits are just overpriced driveway sealer. He told me to try the silver aluminum coating from the roofing supply place off I-40 instead, that stuff actually reflects and seems to bake on instead of melting. Still had to redo a spot near the drain but it held through August last year, so I'm about to find out if it survives round two.
