My kitchen backsplash went from builder beige to something I actually enjoy
I did the tile work myself back in March, took a full weekend. The difference is night and day now that the grout has cured and I sealed it with a matte finish. Has anyone else found that a simple backsplash swap changes how the whole room feels, or is it just me?

Disagree with you on this one lol. I swapped mine out last year and honestly the room felt the same, just with different tiles. The backsplash is like a background actor, it’s there but it’s not the star. Bigger stuff like cabinet color or countertops moves the needle way more. But hey, if it made you happy, that’s what counts. Guess I just don’t get that same wow from a wall behind the stove.

The "background actor" thing kinda hit home actually, cause my friend Jess redid her backsplash last spring and she said the same thing at first, that it felt like nothing changed. But then her mom came over and walked into the kitchen and immediately said "oh wow, this room feels totally different now" without even knowing what she did. So maybe it's one of those things where you're too close to it to notice, but visitors pick up on it right away. She also said the light bounces off the matte tile different than the glossy beige so the whole space feels warmer somehow. I get that it's not as big as counters or cabinets, but I think it's sneakier than people give it credit for.
