My neighbor swore by using a dishwasher tablet to clean his vinyl siding

I laughed and told him that was crazy, but after seeing his house on 34th street look brand new, I tried it on my own last month. It actually worked way better than the expensive cleaner I bought, no streaks at all. Has anyone else tried something that sounds nuts but really works for cleaning around here?

I read that the citric acid in them breaks down grime, makes sense it works lol.

Guess I'm buying my cleaner at the appliance aisle now.

Right, so you just take a bag of citric acid from the canning section and it does the same thing for way less money... I mean, @emmam89 is totally right, that cloudy film is a pain. I started doing it with a big tub of the powder from the grocery store and it works just as good as those expensive tablets. Plus you can use it to descale your coffee maker and even clean your showerhead if you soak it in a bag. Saves you a trip to the appliance aisle and a few bucks too, honestly.

That citric acid trick is a game changer. I used a packet in my dishwasher last week and it cleared out all that cloudy film I couldn't get rid of. The heating element looks brand new now.
