Overheard a guy at the hardware store talking about his old water heater
He was telling the clerk his unit was from 1998 and still running. The clerk just said, 'Buddy, that's not a feature, it's a warning.' It made me check the date on mine, which is from 2006. I guess I've been pushing my luck for a while now. Has anyone here in Amarillo had a water heater go that long without a problem, or am I just waiting for a flood in my garage?

My 2002 model flooded the laundry room last winter.

Wait, it flooded the whole room? That's way worse than a little leak. Amy_craig28 has a point about the time bomb thing, but yours already went off. Did you have to replace the floor or just dry it out? I can't imagine the mess that must have made.

That clerk had a point. My 2006 model is probably just a very patient time bomb. At least if it goes, I'll finally have an excuse to clean the garage.
