PSA: That $18 SharkBite fitting saved my bacon when the shutoff valve blew in my Amarillo crawlspace
Last Saturday I was replacing the shutoff valve under my kitchen sink on 34th Ave and the old copper pipe just crumbled in my hand, water spraying everywhere. I ran outside, killed the main, and bolted to the hardware store on Georgia St for a SharkBite push fitting, since I had no torch and no clue how to sweat copper. Twenty minutes later it was dry and holding, and the guy at the counter said he sells a dozen of those a week to folks in my spot. Anyone else had a pipe give out mid-repair like that?
