PSA: That leaky toilet at the Lubbock Flea Market taught me a $60 lesson
I was at the Lubbock Flea Market last month helping a buddy with his booth. He had this old toilet that kept running and I figured I'd just jiggle the handle like everyone does. Turns out the flapper was worn out and it cost me $60 in water waste before I finally replaced it for $8. Has anyone else found a simple fix that saved them way more than they expected?

Man, that's wild... I had a similar thing with my washing machine. Leaked for months and I just put a bucket under it. Finally fixed a $3 hose clamp and my water bill dropped like $40 the next month. Hate how the little stuff adds up before you even think about it.

That $3 hose clamp story just changed my whole mindset about home repairs.

Right?! Nothing like staring at a bucket for months like it's part of the decor, thinking "this is fine." $3 part, one trip to the hardware store, and suddenly you're a genius who should've just done it in the first place. Makes you wonder how many other hidden $3 fixes are just waiting to embarrass us. My dad once let a toilet run for a year before replacing a flapper. A whole year of that little hiss just eating his water bill alive. I swear half of adulting is just paying the stupid tax on procrastination.

Funny how a bucket becomes a permanent fixture until it costs you more than the fix.
