Question about repainting our garage floor after a bad first try
Back in March I painted our garage floor with that epoxy kit from the big box store, and it peeled up in the hot spots by June. The guy at the paint shop on Georgia Street told me I skipped the etching step and that's why it failed, he even showed me a sample of his own garage where he used a muriatic acid wash first. So now I'm looking at doing it again but I want to do it right this time, maybe with a two part polyurethane instead. Has anyone else had a garage floor coating lift off here in Amarillo, and what did you do differently the second time around?
Oh boy, been there with the peeling garage floor myself, and yeah that etching step is a big deal if you skip it. Just a heads up though, that paint shop guy may have it half right, but muriatic acid can leave residue if you don't rinse it super well, so maybe look into a proper concrete etch product instead.
