Why does nobody talk about how bad those premixed joint compounds are for patching drywall in an Amarillo summer?
Tried using the bucket stuff for a 2-foot hole in my garage last July and it cracked all the way through in 3 days, so I switched to the powder mix and that stuff held solid even in the 105-degree heat, has anyone else had this problem with the premixed stuff around here?

Oh man, my buddy tried that bucket stuff on his shed last August and it looked like a dried-up riverbed by the end of the week. Powder mix is the only way to go when the sun's trying to fry your whole garage.

Honestly, that's exactly what I was worried about with the premixed stuff. Did your buddy prep the concrete base at all before he laid down the bucket coat, or did he just slap it on top of whatever was already there? I feel like half the battle is making sure the surface isn't bone dry or dusty before you even open the can. Tbh I've seen people skip that step and then wonder why it all flakes off like a bad sunburn.
