Can we talk about the weird texture AI art has on Etsy prints?
I stopped by a local craft fair in Portland last weekend and saw a booth selling AI generated landscapes on canvas. The colors were nice from far away but up close the brush strokes had this fake smooth look that felt off. Has anyone else noticed that AI prints just don't have the same material feel as actual paintings?

Totally agree, that fake smoothness ALWAYS gives it away no matter how pretty the colors are.

What specifically about the smoothness feels off to you, is it the lighting or the brush strokes?

Oh man tell me about it. I was looking at this one piece the other day where the whole face had that weird plastic skin look, like someone used the airbrush tool way too much and forgot faces actually have pores and texture. The eyes especially are a dead giveaway, they always end up looking like they belong on a cartoon character even when the rest tries to be realistic. I saw one where the hair was so perfectly blended it didn't have a single flyaway strand, which is just not how hair works. It's that uncanny valley thing where your brain knows something's wrong but you can't always point right at it.
