Learning about AI art's huge energy use has me concerned for our planet.

Is anyone tracking the full environmental bill for all these services? The energy for AI art is one line item in a much bigger problem. How much do companies hide because they know we would not like the answer?

Hold on, are you serious about the energy use? I just looked it up and training one of those big art models can use more power than a dozen homes use in a whole year. That's for making pictures of, I don't know, a cat in a spacesuit. My whole shop doesn't use that much. What else are we not being told about this stuff.

Tell me about it. My smart speaker is probably selling my grocery list to someone, and that food delivery app adds more fees than my old cable bill. Remember when a phone was just for calls? Now it's a monthly contract for the right to be tracked by a dozen companies. We traded simple tools for these full time spies in our pockets.
