My first AI art piece actually sold at a local craft fair last Saturday

I started messing with Midjourney back in February just for fun. I printed out a few pieces on canvas at the local print shop for $15 each. I was honestly scared people would laugh at me but a woman bought my forest scene for $40 cash. She said it reminded her of a hike she did in Oregon. Has anyone else had luck selling AI prints at in-person events?

That's pretty cool how people connect art to their own memories, whether it's AI or not. Feels like the whole debate misses that regular folks just want something that looks nice and hits them in the feels.

Fiona_kim, you hit it - back in 2019 I saw a photo of a rainy street in Tokyo that wasn't even real but it reminded me of a trip I took with my dad, and that's all that mattered to me.

Oh man, that's exactly it. Tbh I think my brain is basically just a cheap filter that turns any slightly rainy image into a memory of my childhood. Ngl I once cried at a stock photo of a wet sidewalk because it looked like the one outside my grandma's old house. It wasn't even a good photo, it was probably used in some brochure about dental insurance. But there I was, getting all emotional over a puddle. Honestly the AI debate is way too serious for people like me who just want to feel something nice for five seconds before scrolling to the next cat video.
