My kid's AI art homework started a family debate on creativity
I remember when my little brother would spend hours drawing cartoons for our family fridge. Now, he just types a few words into an app and gets a full picture in seconds. It's cool, but part of me wonders if it's fair to the artists who train for years. At our last family get together, we argued about whether AI art is really creative or just copying. My dad said it's no different from using a camera, but my mom misses the messy paint days. I guess things change, but I hope we don't lose the joy of making stuff with our hands.

Honestly, isn't this just the same worry people had about photography? New tools come out, and everyone freaks out for a bit before it just becomes normal. The kid making something, even with help, is probably still the main point.

Right? @caleb27, didn't they say cameras would ruin art too?

Exactly. People have been yelling about the sky falling every time a new tool shows up. Cameras, digital art, even the printing press got the same treatment. The worry feels real now, but history says we just make room for it. The kid still has to decide what to make and put in the work. That part never really changes.

It makes sense to worry about new tools changing things. People were scared cameras would ruin art, but that didn't happen. This new tech will probably fit in over time. The important part is that people are still making stuff. Let's wait and see how it goes.
