My sister's kid showed me a picture they 'made' with a free app and called themselves an artist

We were at their house in Austin and my sister said it was just a fun tool, but the kid was so proud of this detailed dragon picture they typed a few words for. It made me wonder if calling it 'their art' is fair to people who spend years learning to draw. Where do you draw the line between using a tool and actually creating something?

Ugh, I totally get this. My nephew did the same thing with an AI image maker last week (a really fancy looking castle scene). It feels weird, right? Like, they typed "epic castle with a moat" and got this whole picture. Is the real artist the kid or the program? It's a tricky line now.

Tell the kid to pick up a pencil and try drawing that moat himself. The program did all the work, he just placed the order. It's like calling yourself a chef because you used the microwave.

Wait, a moat? That's wild.

Honestly, I used to agree with pat_moore about the microwave thing, but seeing how excited that kid was about their castle idea changed my mind.
