The AI artist who sold a print for $400 changed my mind about ownership

Last Saturday I watched a local gallery owner in Portland hang an AI generated landscape next to real oil paintings. Someone bought it for $400 before the show even opened. I used to think AI art was just copying with extra steps, but seeing people pay real money for it made me realize the market decides what art is worth. The gallery owner told me he cares about the final image, not the process. That stuck with me because I still believe human artists deserve credit for their craft, but I can't pretend the buyer was fooled. Has anyone else watched a physical AI piece sell in person and had to rethink their position?
