Tried an AI art booth at a local comic con, felt weird about it

Last Saturday at the Denver Comic Expo, someone had a booth selling AI-generated character portraits for $10 each. I watched a guy type in a description and get a decent looking dragon knight in under a minute, while the artist next to him was sketching a portrait by hand for 20 minutes. It made me wonder if the crowd even cares about the process anymore, or just the finished image. Do you guys think the instant gratification appeal is what's pushing AI art forward, or are people actually connecting with it as a creative medium?
