A moderator removed my post for 'low effort' and she was right about one thing
I wrote a long rant last month about how AI hiring tools should be banned outright, and a moderator named Dana pulled it down with a note that said my post was just fear with no plan behind it. I was mad for about a day. Then I read it back and saw her point, every paragraph was me saying the tech is scary without saying what I actually wanted done about it. So I sat down and rewrote the whole thing as three concrete rules I think companies should follow, like keeping a human in the loop for any rejection and making vendors show their audit logs. The new post got 60 replies and a few people from the other side actually showed up to argue in good faith. What got me was that Dana didn't just delete it, she sent me a message with two links to actual policy papers so I could build a real case. That one bit of pushback did more for my thinking than any comment section ever did. So now I'm wondering, has anyone else here gotten tough feedback from a mod that turned out to be the most useful thing you read all month?
The "fear with no plan" thing is exactly how most of my arguments go, honestly. I got shredded in a group chat once for ranting about my HOA's dumb parking rules, and someone asked what I'd actually put in the rulebook instead. Took me a week to come up with anything real, and it was way better than the rant. Being asked "okay, so what's your fix" is annoyingly powerful.
