Bought a $75 AI voice cloning tool and instantly regretted it

I spent $75 on one of those AI voice cloning services to make a family audio gift. Problem is, the output sounded robotic and it kept mixing up words. It was supposed to save me recording time but I had to redo everything myself anyway. Has anyone found a voice cloning tool that actually sounds natural and doesn't cost a fortune?

Lmao the "bad GPS narrator who just learned English from a cereal box" killed me, that's exactly what mine sounded like. I tried the same thing for a birthday message to my grandpa and it turned his name into something that rhymed with "lasagna" out of nowhere. Ended up just calling him on the phone and reading the script myself in like 10 minutes, felt way more personal too.

My coworker Deb bought one and her grandkids called it "creepy aunt Karen" instead @michaelgrant.

My $75 experiment sounded like a bad GPS narrator who just learned English from a cereal box. My own mom asked if I was having a stroke when she heard it. @jessica707 your coworker's grandkids nailed it, creepy aunt Karen is way too accurate. The thing kept pronouncing my dog's name like it was a weird pasta dish. I ended up just recording the whole thing myself on my phone in one take. Some tools just teach you that your own voice is still the cheapest option.
