Had a conversation with my neighbor about facial recognition and it messed with my head
My neighbor is a retired cop and he told me about a case from 2019 where facial recognition ID'd the wrong guy in Detroit. He was pretty chill about it, just said 'the system is only as good as the data you feed it.' It hit different because I usually just think about AI in terms of cool gadgets, not real people getting arrested by mistake. Anyone else have a chat that totally flipped how they see this stuff?

Yeah but cops mess up IDs on their own too, that's not really the same thing.
