I found out AI recruiting software rejected my resume for a reason I didn't see coming
I was job hunting for 6 months and kept getting ghosted. Finally I ran my resume through one of those AI checker tools out of curiosity. Turns out the software was filtering me out because I used a sans-serif font instead of a standard one. I read a study from NBER that said 27% of qualified applicants get tossed by these systems for stuff like that. I spent 2 hours reformatting every job description keyword into the right style. Has anyone else had their application trashed by AI over something this dumb?

Might as well start checking my font choice in my coffee order now... "Sorry, your latte art is written in Comic Sans, you're disqualified from drinking here." Seriously though, I heard a recruiter say their system dings people for using the word "utilize" because it sounds like an AI wrote it. So now we're getting rejected for picking the wrong font AND the wrong verbs... wild times.

Wait, they actually ding you for using the word "utilize"? That can't be real. I mean, I get wanting to avoid obvious AI stuff but that word is way too common in everyday writing. People have been using it since way before AI was a thing. Now I'm paranoid about every single word I type. What's next, getting flagged for using too many commas? Or using "therefore" instead of "so"? This feels like overcorrecting gone wild. How do they even know what "sounds like AI" if they're just guessing based on words?
