Tbh they've been saying that for years and QA is still here. Classic management bluff.

Saw a post on LinkedIn last week from a former manager at a tech company. She said they pulled this same stunt four times in three years and never actually laid off a single QA person. @karenb97 is probably right that it's just talk. Management loves to float these threats to see who panics and updates their resume. Usually when the deadline actually hits they just shuffle some people around or rebrand the department.
