My smart fridge tried to order 17 gallons of milk because of a glitch
I was at home in Austin last Tuesday when my phone started buzzing with delivery alerts. My fridge's AI, which is supposed to learn my habits, decided we were out of milk and scheduled a delivery for 17 gallons from the grocery app! I had to scramble to cancel the order and then spent an hour trying to reset its 'learning' mode. Has anyone else had an AI appliance go rogue like this?

Actually, that sounds exactly like a real decision to me!

Yeah, reminds me of people just following bad rules too.

Lol that's wild but technically it didn't "decide" anything. It just followed a broken rule in its code. These things don't actually learn like we do, they just match patterns badly sometimes.

Oh man, that's just a fancy way of saying it made a bad call. My toaster follows broken rules too, it just burns my bread.
