Remember when we just trusted the old credit score system?
I got flagged by a new AI loan approval tool last year for a 'high risk' label. The reason? It linked my online activity to a person with a similar name who had bad debt. Proving I wasn't that guy took almost 8 months of back and forth with their support team and sending in paper records. It made me miss the simpler, slower human checks, even with their flaws. Who else has had to fight a decision made by an algorithm that got basic facts wrong?

Eight months is insane. I had a similar mix-up with a background check service, same deal with a common name. The automated appeals loop is the worst part.

Wait, they kept you in that loop for eight months? That's not just a mix-up, that's a full-on system failure. I got stuck for six weeks once and nearly lost a job offer. The automated emails just kept saying "under review" while my real deadline ticked down. It feels like shouting into a void.

My name's pretty common too, so I spent 14 weeks fighting with a rental background check that mixed me up with someone who had an eviction. The automated phone menu just kept looping me back to the same form letter. Had to mail in a notarized affidavit and a copy of my driver's license before they finally looked at it. The whole system feels designed to wear you down so you just give up.
