Saw a self checkout camera in Tucson flag a guy for 2 items, and I can't stop thinking about who writes the rules
Was at a Walmart on Grant Rd and watched the screen pop up 'assistance needed' before he even bagged anything. If stores are already handing moral calls to software, who do we even complain to when it gets it wrong?
Those camera systems are made by a few big companies like Everseen and the stores just tweak the settings. Had one flag me for putting my own reusable bag down wrong, and the worker told me they can adjust how sensitive it is but nobody at the store level really controls the rules. You can ask for the store manager and file a complaint, but it goes nowhere since the software comes from corporate. Best bet is to just keep your receipt and expect to get stopped sometimes.
