Three years ago, a facial recognition system in a Detroit apartment building misidentified my neighbor and locked him out for 12 hours.

Ugh, tech that doesn't work right is everywhere now.

Call the property management company and ask for the maintenance supervisor's cell number directly. Most buildings have a work order system but when the tech fails you need a human who can override it. I keep a screenshot of my building's emergency procedures on my phone because half the time the paper copies are outdated or missing. Store a physical backup key with a neighbor you trust too, those electronic fobs are way too unreliable for something as important as getting into your own home.

Right? Feels like everything's half-baked these days. My new coffee maker needs a software update to brew properly. It's getting silly.

Yeah that Detroit story is messed up. Honestly @riverdavis, you gotta get the building manager's direct number and keep it on speed dial. Mine had to override the system with a physical key when my fob failed last winter.
