Showerthought: I was building a chatbot for my site and kept getting weird answers from users

I spent about two months coding this thing, and people kept asking it simple questions it would mess up. Last Tuesday, a test user typed 'what time is it in Tokyo?' and it gave a long answer about Tokyo's history. I was training it on too much general data instead of just our FAQ. Has anyone else had to totally switch their training data focus to fix a simple bot?

I used to have a totally different view on that. The blog post made some good points I hadn't considered before. It really changed how I see the whole thing now.
