Two AI detectors called the same paper human and bot, which one do I trust?
I wrote a 900 word guide for our internal wiki about how we test AI tools on the help desk. Out of curiosity I ran it through two detectors, one said 98% human, the other flagged it as 72% AI. That got me thinking, if the tools can't agree on MY writing, how are teachers or hiring managers using these things fairly? Some folks say detectors are basically coin flips, others swear they catch copy-paste ChatGPT work. I am leaning toward using them for leads, not proof, but has anyone else seen results this split, and what did you decide to do about it?
So the detectors are basically playing whack-a-mole with your writing style, huh? That tracks, since they mostly guess based on patterns that shift with every update. Honestly, if two tools can't agree on your own words, then using them for anything more than a "maybe check this" is like trusting a Magic 8 Ball for legal advice. Treat them like a lead, sure, but never let one flag your whole career on a coin flip.
