Appreciation post: I thought that AI scheduling tool my boss forced on us was junk, until it saved my crew 6 hours a week
Three months ago my manager at the warehouse in Toledo made us switch to an AI tool that builds our shift schedules, and I figured it was just another way to cut our hours. It turned out the thing actually noticed that our Thursday truck always arrives 40 minutes late, so it stopped stacking morning crew on that day and gave us back 6 hours a week. Has anyone else had one of these tools surprise you like that, or did yours flop the way I expected?

Wait, so the robot was smarter than the humans running the place? That is the part that gets me. Your boss probably spent weeks telling everyone how great this thing was, and the whole time it was just quietly doing the math nobody else bothered to do. Six hours a week is like getting a free workday every month, which is wild when you think about how long the crew probably just ate that 40 minute delay like it was normal. Makes you wonder what else it has noticed that nobody asked about yet.
