Heard a kid in line at the coffee shop say his dad's whole team got let go because of a 'new system'
I was grabbing a coffee yesterday morning. The kid in front of me, maybe 10, was talking to his mom. He said his dad's whole team of 12 people at the insurance company got cut. The reason was a new AI system that does the claims review now. It really hit me that it's not just about future jobs, it's happening right now to real families. Has anyone else seen a whole department just vanish like that?

The new system needs a human to fix its mistakes.

What if the mistakes are actually teaching the system to get better over time? It could be learning from every human fix we make. That would make the mess-ups kind of useful.
