My company swapped out 2 human copywriters for an AI tool called Jasper and the quality tanked

The AI stuff sounds fast but it's generic and needs so much fixing that we're hiring one person back. Anyone else see their workplace make a dumb move like this?

We had the same fight. Got them to run a test. Had the AI and a junior writer draft the same product page. The AI version needed 45 minutes of edits to sound human. The junior's draft was ready in 20. Showed the boss the clock time, not just the invoice.

The part about hiring one person back says it all. It's like they forgot that tools need someone who knows how to use them. @reese_lee9's point about fixing facts is the same problem, just a different flavor. Management sees a price tag but not the cost of all the rework and lost trust. They bought a cheap hammer and are shocked it can't also turn a screw.

We tried that with blog posts last year. The AI kept repeating the same phrases and got basic facts wrong about our own products. It took me longer to fix the mistakes than to just write it myself. My boss finally let me go back to the old way after a client complained.

Forget the cost of fixing it, think about the sales it loses.
