My old boss in Tulsa said AI would never touch our drafting jobs, and he was half right
Back in 2022 he told all 6 of us that machines could never read a customer's messy sketches so we were safe, and for a while he looked like a genius. Last month our company bought a tool that turns those sketches into 3D models in about 10 minutes, and now 2 of the guys are training to check its output instead of drawing. So was he wrong about the jobs or just wrong about the timing? Curious what other people heard from bosses who swore their field was safe.
Six guys down to two is the part I want to know more about, did the other four get moved somewhere else in the company or were they just cut loose? The Tulsa boss thing makes me wonder if he actually believed it or if he was just trying to keep everyone calm so nobody jumped ship early. What did he say when the new tool showed up?
