Our office manager got replaced by a chatbot and nobody noticed for a week.
I work at a small insurance firm in Tacoma, and the system that handles our PTO requests and supply orders just became fully automated. The new AI didn't send a single 'your request is being processed' email, it just did the tasks. Has anyone else's workplace quietly switched a role without a formal announcement?

Sounds like an upgrade if the work just gets done. People get weird about announcements for things that don't affect them directly. The real test is when something breaks.

My last company in Seattle replaced our entire IT help desk with a chatbot over a holiday weekend. The key was they kept the old ticket system's email address, so we just thought response times got really fast. It only came out when someone needed a physical part replaced and the bot kept sending software fixes. What worked for me was setting up a direct Slack channel with the few remaining human sysadmins for actual emergencies.
