That one Wednesday last month where everything went right
I had a cleaning route in Arlington where three clients all cancelled within an hour of each other, and I thought my day was shot. Then two bigger jobs called needing same day service and I made $340 in about 5 hours with zero gaps. Has anyone else had a random windfall like that from AI shift changes messing with schedules?

Not to nitpick but AI shift changes didn't mess with anything there. That's all just normal cancellations and last minute bookings. Happens all the time in service work. Your real stroke of luck was having two bigger jobs call in on the same day after the cancellations. That part was the actual windfall, not the schedules getting shuffled around.

Yeah, "that part was the actual windfall" nails it. I've had similar days where everything falls apart schedule wise but then two decent paying jobs pop up out of nowhere and it ends up being a better day than if everything had gone to plan. It's like the universe has a weird way of balancing things out in this field. The cancellations are annoying in the moment but the real money makers are those last minute bookings that you'd never get if you were already packed.

Three cancellations in an hour does seem like a lot though. My money's on it being a coincidence more than anything else. People cancel for weird reasons all the time, dogs staring at walls and cats hissing at nothing sounds like normal pet stuff honestly. I've had days where three people cancel and it's usually just bad timing or they forgot they had an appointment. The real story here is that you got lucky with those bigger jobs filling the gap, not that the universe was sending you some kind of sign. It's easy to read too much into random events when you're having a good day.

Did your clients ever say anything weird when they cancelled though? I had a similar day a few months back where three people cancelled back to back on a Tuesday, and each one gave me this super specific excuse about their dog acting strange. Like one lady said her golden retriever was staring at a wall for three hours and she didn't want to leave him alone. Then another guy said his cat kept hiding under the bed and hissing at nothing. I ended up making good money that afternoon from a last minute deep clean, but for a while there I was half convinced my schedule was cursed or something.

Man, you're making me wonder if my dog's been conspiring with everyone else's pets to mess with my schedule...
