That warehouse foreman in Denver told me AI would never touch our trade

Last summer I was doing a big LVP install in a new warehouse down near Denver. The foreman, older guy named Rick, saw me using a digital layout tool on my tablet and laughed. He said AI couldn't figure out flooring because every room has crooked walls and stupid subfloor issues. Then he showed me a picture of his crew from 1998, all manual scribing and chalk lines. Six months later I got a demo from a company selling an AI cutting system that scans rooms and optimizes plank layouts in seconds. It still messes up on weird corners, but it saved me 2 hours on a 800 square foot job last week. Has anyone else seen these systems actually work on older buildings with real problems?

Dude, I had almost the exact same thing happen at a 1920s apartment building in Portland. The AI camera mapped the living room perfectly but then completely freaked out on a corner where the landlord had patched the subfloor with like three different thicknesses of plywood. Still beat my old method by about 45 minutes on a 600 footer though.

I heard the new firmware update actually fixed that plywood glitch.
