Walked into a data entry office in Des Moines and saw one person doing the work of five

I was at a friend's insurance office in Des Moines last Tuesday helping with their network setup. They had this one lady running batches through an AI tool that used to take three full-time workers a whole day. She told me she feels guilty about it but her boss said it saves the company $60,000 a year. Has anyone else seen departments cut down to a skeleton crew like this?

Man, I've seen this EXACT thing play out in THREE different offices around town last year! @blake792 hit the nail on the head with the hospital billing thing because my cousin works in a medical records place and they went from 12 people down to 4 after rolling out some AI system. The worst part is watching people who've been there 20 years get shuffled to part time while the company brags about "efficiency gains." I watched a whole accounting department get cut from 8 to 2 people and the 2 left are basically just feeding documents into a scanner all day. It's scary how fast it's happening and nobody seems to care until it's their own job on the line. The $60,000 number is just the tip of the iceberg too, because I heard about a call center in Omaha that cut 40 people down to 12 with voice AI.
