Appreciation post: I was out of parchment paper for my air fryer basket and used a flour tortilla as a liner for my frozen taquitos, which sounds crazy but actually worked and gave them a crispy shell.

I was making a late night snack and the tortilla liner idea came from a random comment on a cooking blog from 2022, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has tried a weird substitute that surprisingly didn't ruin their food?

Okay that's genius (and also the kind of thing I'd only think of at 2 AM when I'm half asleep). I once used a paper towel in a pinch for my toaster oven, which, shocker, started smoking. So your tortilla move is way smarter than my usual kitchen logic. Nice catch, @alicecraig, it really is next-level hack energy. My most "successful" weird swap was probably using waffles as buns for a sausage patty, which just felt like a lazy attempt at chicken and waffles.

Oh man, that reminds me of my grilled cheese on a hot dog bun phase.
