I attempted to air fry a whole frozen pizza versus just the crust and toppings.

The frozen pizza turned into a sad, floppy mess, but using the crust as a base with fresh mozzarella and pepperoni from the deli gave me a crispy personal pizza in 8 minutes. Anyone have other weird frozen food hacks that actually work?

Frozen waffles make a great base for mini pizzas too.

Okay but the frozen waffle idea is the kind of kitchen experiment that ends with me ordering takeout. Gotta side with lewis.mila on the texture thing, because my one attempt at a non-traditional base was a sticky, floppy letdown. The sweet and savory mix just never works out for me, it feels like a betrayal of both breakfast and dinner. Maybe I just don't have the right kind of waffles, or the right kind of optimism.

Honestly I gotta disagree hard here. Frozen waffles as a pizza base sounds like a solid move if you do it right, not a disaster. Toast them first until they're actually crispy, then add your sauce and cheese and pop them back in the air fryer. That way you avoid the soggy mess everyone's worried about. Plus the slight sweetness of the waffle actually works with pepperoni or even some barbecue chicken. It's not a betrayal of anything, it's just a different kind of meal.

Okay but the frozen waffle pizza base thing is where I tap out. That just sounds like a soggy, sweet disaster waiting to happen. I tried something similar with toaster pastries once and it was a complete mess. For me, the whole point is getting that crispy texture, which is why the original post about using just the frozen crust is actually genius. It fixes the main problem with frozen pizza in the air fryer.
