I finally tried the 'air fryer french toast sticks' trend after my brother-in-law in Boise said they were a soggy waste of bread.

He was completely right, because the batter just drips off and makes a mess, so has anyone found a way to make them that actually works?

Prophet of soggy bread" is killing me, I mean that's a very specific kind of holy man. I picture him in a kitchen robe giving sermons about the perfect amount of steam. Honestly though, I'm with emery, a little steam can be a game changer if you do it right. Too much and you're just eating a warm sponge.

He used to make fun of my toast until I tried his method. A quick steam over the kettle instead of the toaster changed everything. Now my bread is soft but never wet.
