I was making my chicken wings wrong for a whole year

I kept getting chewy skin, not crispy, and my friend from Buffalo came over last week and just asked me point blank, 'You're not putting sauce on before you cook them, are you?' I was. I'd been coating them in my buffalo sauce mix and then putting them straight in the basket. He told me to cook them plain first, then sauce them after. I tried it yesterday and it was a total game changer. Has anyone else got a simple trick that fixed a basic air fryer mistake?

My dad did the same thing with his barbecue sauce on ribs for a decade. It shows how a single wrong step can become an unshakable habit. We get stuck in our own little loops and never think to question them.

My own bad habit is adding way too much salt to pasta water. At this point my spaghetti is probably seasoned enough to walk off the plate. What's your weirdest cooking loop?

Unshakable habit" is right, I was stuck on the same loop with frozen fries until I learned to pat them dry.

Always thought people were just being dramatic about the paper towel thing, but tried it last week and now I feel like I've been living a lie this whole time. Idk why it took me so long to try something so simple.
