My air fryer smoked up the kitchen from a recipe I trusted

I was making frozen onion rings using a method I found on a cooking blog. Halfway through, thick smoke poured out and set off my smoke alarm. I had to air out the whole house and clean the air fryer for an hour. It taught me to always stay nearby when trying new air fryer ideas. Do you stick close to your kitchen when air frying new foods?

Oh wow... that reminds me of what happened to my friend Carlos. He tried making frozen jalapeno poppers in his air fryer using a method from some cooking site. Not even five minutes in, crazy smoke filled his kitchen and set off the alarm... He spent the next hour opening windows and wiping down walls because the grease smell wouldn't leave. Now he camps out right next to the counter if he's trying any new air fryer idea. It really shows you can't trust every recipe you find online... gotta keep an eye on things.

Funny how air fryers get sold as these set-it-and-forget-it gadgets. Used to just walk away myself until a batch of bacon filled my place with a grease smoke cloud so thick I almost called the fire department. That was the last time I left the kitchen when trying something new. Now I park myself right there, staring through the window like a hawk.

Actually frozen onion rings are one of the few things I feel okay walking away from for a minute. The real smoke monsters are fatty foods like bacon or sausage.

But is it really that serious to camp out the whole time... @adams.uma had a bad batch of bacon but that's kind of a known risky food. Most stuff is fine if you just check in once or twice.
