My frozen fries used to be a soggy mess before I tried this one thing
I always just dumped them straight from the bag into the basket. Last week, I gave them a light spray of oil and a shake halfway through, and they came out crispy for the first time. What's your best trick for getting frozen stuff to turn out right?

Oh, that's a solid move. I used to have the same problem with frozen onion rings. The box always said to cook them on a baking sheet, but they'd steam into a limp disaster. Now I just spread them out on the oven rack itself, no tray at all. The air gets all around them and they actually get crunchy. Total game changer for anything breaded.

Wait, you just put them right on the rack? Doesn't the grease or crumbs drip down and make a mess? I tried that once with some fries and my oven smoked up bad. I found putting them on a cooling rack set over a baking sheet works the same way, catches the mess. Might have to try your way again though if it's that much better.

Seems like a lot of fuss for some fries.

Honestly it's wild how many food boxes give bad instructions. Like @charles21 said, the rack over a sheet pan is the safe play, but going straight on the rack is a gamble that sometimes pays off. Feels like half of adult life is just figuring out the workarounds for stuff like this.
