Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why my chicken was still raw inside

I put a couple of thick chicken breasts in my air fryer last Tuesday, set it to 375 for 15 minutes like usual, and they came out golden on the outside but completely raw in the middle. Turns out my probe thermometer was reading 10 degrees too low because the battery was dying. I wasted a whole dinner and had to order pizza while I waited for the replacement thermometer from Amazon to arrive. Has anyone else dealt with a wonky thermometer messing up their cook times?

Hold on, a dying battery was making your thermometer read 10 degrees too low? That's wild, I've never even thought about that happening. I always just assume if it's not beeping at me, it's fine, but now I'm gonna have to check my own thermometer battery before I cook anything. Honestly, you probably saved me from serving raw chicken to my family next week, so thanks for the heads up. I bet that pizza tasted pretty good though, even if it wasn't what you planned on eating.

My buddy's grill thermometer went haywire with a low battery and ruined his steaks.

Nah, that's a stretch, @angelarivera, a low battery won't mess it up that bad.
