Tried frozen chicken wings at 400F vs 380F and the 20 degree difference turned them from rubber to crispy
Did a side by side test with the same bag of wings from Costco and the 400F batch had that golden crunch while the 380F ones were soggy and sad, anyone else find their air fryer hates even numbers or is it just mine that has a sweet spot at 400?

Is it possible your 380F batch was just more crowded in the basket? I did the same test with my own wings and found no difference at all, both batches came out equally dry and tough. Plus my air fryer runs hot so 380 is really more like 400 anyway, maybe yours runs cold and needs the higher setting.

It's funny you mention that @charles640, because it really ties into something I've noticed about pretty much any appliance - they're all a little different from the box. My first air fryer ran hot too, made everything burn on the outside before it was done. So I had to learn to adjust and not trust the dial. That whole "your mileage may vary" thing applies way more than people give it credit for. It's like how my buddy's oven at home is 25 degrees off from what he sets it to, but he just learned to work with it.

Huh, so did you ever actually test your buddy's oven with a thermometer to confirm it's really off?
