Warning: My air fryer fries always come out soggy on the bottom.

I figured out that overcrowding the basket is the issue, but why does every recipe say to fill it up? It's so confusing.

Honestly, those recipes are way off sometimes... I had the same soggy bottom issue until I stopped filling the basket all the way. Leaving some space lets the hot air move around better, you know? Now I do smaller batches and give the basket a good shake halfway through. It's a bit more waiting, but totally worth it for crispy fries.

I get the logic but man, that sounds like a lot of work for some fries. You're telling me I gotta do multiple small batches and shake the basket like I'm panning for gold? At that point just heat up the oven. My old toaster oven does the same thing in one shot, no babysitting required.

My friend was ready to give up on her air fryer after too many soggy fries. She finally tried doing smaller loads and shaking the basket like you said, and it totally fixed the problem. She won't stop talking about it now, but does that method work for other stuff too?

Guess I've been treating my air fryer like a laundry basket.
