Why does everyone insist on preheating air fryers?
I was at a friend's potluck in Austin last weekend and watched her waste 10 minutes preheating her air fryer for frozen fries when they came out exactly the same as mine that I just tossed in cold. Has anyone actually tested if preheating makes a real difference?

Wait, you're telling me she actually stood there for 10 minutes waiting for it to heat up? That's insane. Who has time for that, especially with frozen fries that are gonna cook either way?

Right? And honestly it's not like the fries are gonna suffer from one extra minute in the heat. Standing there like a guard dog over a bag of frozen potatoes is wild. People act like the oven timer is a suggestion and they have to supervise the whole process. Just throw them in, set a timer, and walk away like a normal person.

That's exactly what I started doing actually. I used to stand there too until I realized the beep means it's ready, not that I need to watch the coils turn red. Now I just set my phone timer for 12 minutes and go fold laundry or something.
