Been torquing lug nuts wrong for 5 years until a cracked rotor at DFW tipped me off
I was doing the star pattern but cranking each nut down all the way before moving to the next one, figured that was fine since I hit the torque spec. A line guy flagged me after I pulled a 737 in for brake service and showed me the rotor had hairline stress fractures from uneven clamping. How do you guys sequence your torque on mains to avoid this without taking forever?

What torque wrench are you using? A cracked rotor from that sounds like you might be getting some reading drift or the gun is overshooting before you get to check it.

That "overshooting" thing happens with EVERY tool I own lately, not just wrenches.
